چکیده

The dynamics of an in-host model with general form of target-cell dynamics, nonlinear incidence, and distributed delay are investigated. The model can describe the in vivo infection dynamics of many viruses such as HIV-I, HCV, and HBV. We derive the basic reproduction number R0 for the viral infection and establish that the global dynamics are completely determined by the values of R0: if R0 ≤ 1, the infection-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, and the virus is cleared; if R0 > 1, then the infection persists, and the chronic-infection equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. An implication of our results is that intracellular delays will lead to periodic oscillations in in-host models only with the right kind of target-cell dynamics.

Global dynamics of an in-host viral model with intracellular delay.

The dynamics of a general in-host model with intracellular delay is studied. The model can describe in vivo infections of HIV-I, HCV, and HBV. It can also be considered as a model for HTLV-I infection. We derive the basic reproduction number R0 for the viral infection, and establish that the global dynamics are completely determined by the values of R0. If R0 < or = 1, the infection-free equili...

Liposome and polymer-based nanomaterials for vaccine applications

Nanoparticles (NPs) are effective and safe adjuvants for antigen delivery in modern vaccinology. Biodegradable nanomaterials with suitable properties are frequently applied for conjugation or loading with antigens; they protect the antigens from degradation in vivo. NPs are applied as effective delivery system to facilitate antigen uptake by antigen presenting cells (APCs) and especially dendri...

Poly I:C Delivery into J774.1 & RAW264.7 Macrophages Induces Rapid Cell Death

Background: Cytosolic double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is an important ‘molecular signature’ for the detection of intracellular viral infections. Although intracellular dsRNA is a known potent inducer of apoptosis, the optimal time and dose for the onset of dsRNA-mediated apoptosis have not been studied in detail. Objective: To perform an accurate temporal assessment of the cell death responses in d...

HLA-KIR Interactions and Immunity to Viral Infections

Host genetic factors play a central role in determining the clinical phenotype of human diseases. Association between two polymorphic loci in human genome, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) and killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs), and genetically complex infectious disease, particularly those of viral etiology, have been historically elusive. Hence, defining the influence of genetic di...

Viral dynamics in vivo: limitations on estimates of intracellular delay and virus decay.

Anti-viral drug treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-1) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections causes rapid reduction in plasma virus load. Viral decline occurs in several phases and provides information on important kinetic constants of virus replication in vivo and pharmacodynamical properties. We develop a mathematical model that takes into account the intracellular phase of...
